Manchester City Sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan

Dutch Midfielder Becomes Club’s Fourth Signing of the Summer

Manchester City have officially confirmed the signing of Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan. The 26-year-old midfielder joins the Premier League champions on a five-year deal, becoming the club’s fourth acquisition of the summer transfer window.

Reijnders arrives at the Etihad Stadium after an outstanding 2024/25 season in Serie A, where he netted 15 goals across all competitions. The move marks a significant step in his career, with the Netherlands international poised to take on a central creative role following the departure of club legend Kevin De Bruyne.

Speaking to the official Manchester City website, Reijnders expressed his excitement about the move:
“City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players and outstanding facilities,” he said.
“Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with even more success in the years to come.”

“It’s also a dream come true to play in the Premier League. Many top Dutch players have left their mark here, and it’s an inspiration to follow in their footsteps. I can’t wait to get started, meet my new teammates, and show the fans what I can do.”

Reijnders’ stellar performances last season earned him a place in the Serie A Team of the Season, along with the prestigious Serie A Best Midfielder of the Season award.

Career So Far

Born on 29 July 1998 in Zwolle, Netherlands, Reijnders began his football journey at PEC Zwolle before transferring to AZ Alkmaar in 2017. He spent six years with AZ, making 128 appearances, scoring 13 goals, and providing 15 assists. A short loan spell at RKC Waalwijk in 2020 added to his development before his eventual move to AC Milan in July 2023.

At Milan, Reijnders made 104 appearances, contributing 19 goals and nine assists. He was a key figure in their midfield and helped the team secure the 2024/25 Supercoppa Italiana title.

On the international stage, Reijnders debuted for the Netherlands national team in 2023 and has since earned 23 caps, scoring four goals. He was an integral part of the Dutch squad that reached the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2024.

What’s Next?

Reijnders is expected to make his first appearance for Manchester City on 18 June when the club faces Wydad AC in the FIFA Club World Cup. That same day, City will also learn their fixture schedule for the 2025/26 Premier League season, offering fans a glimpse of what lies ahead as Guardiola’s side aims to continue its domestic and international dominance.
